3. If this is the last task you are performing, replace the processor air duct and the top cover of the
chassis. Reconnect all the external devices and plug in the power cord(s).
5.3 Replacing the Ethernet Front Panel Board
The Ethernet Front Panel (EFP) board provides an interface to the controls at the front of the server
system, the power interconnect for the server board, the USB2 and Serial B interface, and the front
panel LED interface connection.
To replace the EFP board, the following components must be removed:
All cable connections on the EFP board and any connections to the front panel, such as 4xGbE LAN
card cables, if installed.
PCI fan assembly (and SMART Embedded USB Solid-State Drive, if installed)
Caution: Before replacing any of the NSW1U Network Server boards, you must first take the
server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system, turn off
the system by pressing the power button, and unplug the power cord from the system
or wall outlet.
5.3.1 Removing the Ethernet Front Panel (EFP) Board
1. Power down the server system and unplug all peripheral devices and the power cable.
2. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see Section 3.2.1, “Removing the Chassis Cover” on
page 25.
3. Remove the PCI fan assembly. For instructions, see “Section 5.2.3, “Removing the PCI Fan” on
page 67.
